The piston slides inside a machined cylinder, draws liquid in through the inlet valve on the back stroke, then pushes that exact volume out through the outlet valve. How to Choose the Right Piston Pumps

Start with flow, not price. Work out the litres per hour of chemical you need at your peak water flow, then add roughly 20 percent headroom so you are not running the pump flat out. Sitting at 100 percent of capacity all day is how dosing gear dies early.

Next, check pressure at the injection point, not at the pump. Line pressure plus the pressure drop across your injection quill is the number the pump has to beat.
