View full detailsEvery one of the Grundfos pressure pumps on this page carries a live price. You will not find a quote form or a "contact us for pricing" placeholder. That sounds like a small thing until you have spent an afternoon clicking through Australian pump sites and still cannot work out what a SCALA2 costs. We are Pumptastic, based in Perth, and we ship Grundfos pressure pumps to homeowners, plumbers, builders and site managers across Western Australia and the rest of the country.
Western Australian water is hard on pumps. Perth homes run on scheme water, garden bores, rainwater tanks, or some mix of all three. Bore water drawn from the Swan Coastal Plain often carries iron and fine sand. Summer runs long and hot. The Water Corporation sprinkler roster limits most Perth and Mandurah households to two watering days a week, with a full winter sprinkler ban from 1 June to 31 August. That pattern of short heavy demand followed by weeks of sitting idle is exactly where cheap pumps fail. Grundfos pressure pumps cope with it because the wetted parts are stainless steel and the controllers include dry run protection.
Grundfos is a Danish manufacturer based in Bjerringbro and one of the largest pump makers in the world. The range on this page covers the SCALA1 and SCALA2 all-in-one units, the CMB and CMB-SP booster sets, the CMBE and CMBE TWIN variable speed systems, the JP jet pumps, the JP PT-V tank and switch packages, and the SB and SBA submersible boosters built for rainwater tanks. Depending on the model, Grundfos pressure pumps in this range ship with a PM1, PM2 or PM START pressure manager.
If you are not certain which one you need, call us on (08) 6384 5884 before you buy. We would rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have you freight back the wrong pump. Most of the sizing mistakes we see are the same three or four errors, and every one of them is avoidable. The rest of this page walks through them.
The SCALA range is the easiest place to start. Both units are self-priming, so they can lift water from a tank or shallow well without relying on a foot valve to do all the work. SCALA1 runs at a fixed speed and connects over Bluetooth through the Grundfos GO app. SCALA2 adds inverter control, so it changes speed to match demand and holds pressure steady when two showers run at once. SCALA2 also runs quietly, around 47 dB(A) in normal operation, which matters when the pump sits against a bedroom wall or near a neighbour's fence.
Choose SCALA1 if your demand is predictable and your budget is tighter. Choose SCALA2 if you have a two storey home, a long run to the back of the block, or family members who complain the moment the pressure drops.
CMB units are multistage booster pumps matched with a PM pressure manager. CMB-SP adds self-priming, which is what you want when the pump sits above the water level. These are the workhorses of the range. They are simple, serviceable and they last. If you already have a pressure tank in place, a CMB with a PM1 or PM2 is often a cleaner fit than an all-in-one unit. Browse the full Grundfos CMB range for every variant we hold.
CMBE is the variable speed version. It reads demand and adjusts, which cuts running costs on sites where the pump cycles all day rather than in short bursts. CMBE TWIN puts two pumps on a shared manifold, so one takes over if the other stops and both share the load at peak times. Apartment blocks, small hotels, packing sheds and wash-down bays are the usual buyers. If your duty point sits higher again, look at our Grundfos vertical multistage pumps or our Grundfos booster sets.
The JP is a self-priming single stage centrifugal jet pump. On its own it works as a transfer and light pressure pump. Bought as a JP PT-V it arrives with a pressure switch and a 20 L tank, which makes it a complete pressure set at a lower price than the electronic units. JP models suit rainwater tanks, garden supply and sheds. They sit at the value end of the Grundfos pressure pumps range and they sell strongly through the Wheatbelt and the South West, where a simple repairable pump often beats a clever one.
You need two numbers: flow and pressure. Flow is measured in litres per minute. Allow roughly 12 to 15 LPM for each outlet you expect to run at the same time, so a family bathroom plus a kitchen tap plus one sprinkler zone lands somewhere near 40 to 50 LPM. Pressure is measured in kilopascals. Start with the pressure you want at the tap, usually 300 to 500 kPa, then add about 10 kPa for every metre the water has to climb, plus friction loss along the pipe run.
That last part is where people come unstuck. A single storey home with the tank 40 metres from the house needs more pump than a two storey home with the tank at the wall. Distance costs you pressure, and so does undersized pipe. If you are pushing water through 20 mm poly over a long run, the pump is not your problem.
Use the filters at the top of this page to narrow by motor power, speed type and voltage. Every listing carries the Grundfos part number, so you can cross-check against a spec sheet or against the pump you are replacing before you commit. If the numbers still do not add up, send us your layout and we will size it for you.
Three things, over and over. The first is undersized pipe. People buy a bigger pump to solve a pressure problem that a 25 mm line would have fixed for a fraction of the cost. The second is no pressure tank, or a tank with the wrong pre-charge. A pump that cycles on and off every few seconds will not last, and the fix is usually a tank charged to around 10 percent below cut-in pressure. We stock pressure tanks in the sizes that match this range.
The third is bore water going straight into the pump. Iron and fine sand chew through impellers and foul controllers. If you are on a Perth garden bore, filter before the pump rather than after it. It costs a great deal less than a replacement.
There is a fourth that is specific to WA. Pumps that sit dry through the winter sprinkler ban can seize or lose prime by the time September arrives. Run the unit for a few minutes once a month across winter. It uses almost no water and it saves you a call-out.
We show our prices. The two sites currently outranking us on this search both hide theirs behind a quote form, which works for them and wastes your afternoon. We carry over 3,000 pumps and parts, dispatch quickly, and ship Australia wide with free freight on orders over $100. We are a real business in Perth with a phone number that a person answers between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.
We also stock the parts that fail. Capacitors, pressure switches and controllers, pressure transducers and Grundfos spare parts. If you need a bore pump rather than a surface unit, see our Grundfos SQ and SQE and Grundfos SP collections. For the wider brand range, start at Grundfos pumps.
Order today and we will get your Grundfos pressure pump moving. Questions first? Call (08) 6384 5884 or use our contact page.
