Signal SD-DR RelayCube™ Multi-Wire Expansion Module for SDS Two-Wire Irrigation Controllers – 24 Outputs per Module
📢 For orders over $100, FREE Shipping Australia-wide
The Signal SD-DR RelayCube™ is a plug-and-play multi-wire expansion module designed for Signal SDS Series Two-Wire Irrigation Controllers. It allows an SDS controller to operate conventional 24VAC solenoid valves while retaining the flexibility of the SDS two-wire architecture. Each RelayCube™ adds 24 conventional valve outputs and can be installed anywhere along the two-wire network, making it ideal for retrofit projects, hybrid irrigation systems, and installations where existing multi-wire valve infrastructure needs to be retained. With dedicated 24VAC power, LED status indication, resettable short-circuit protection, and support for mixed DataCoil™ and conventional solenoid operation, the RelayCube™ provides a practical way to expand and modernise existing irrigation systems.
Suitable Applications
- Retrofit irrigation projects using existing 24VAC solenoid valves
- Hybrid two-wire and conventional multi-wire irrigation systems
- Commercial landscape irrigation systems
- Sports fields and turf irrigation installations
- Municipal parks and public landscape systems
- Schools, campuses, and large residential estates
- Expansion of Signal SDS-50 and SDS-100 irrigation systems
- Sites requiring remote multi-wire valve outputs along a two-wire path
- Projects transitioning gradually from conventional solenoids to DataCoil™ technology

Benefits
- Ideal for Retrofits: Existing 24VAC solenoid valves can remain in service while the irrigation system is upgraded to an SDS two-wire controller architecture.
- Flexible Hybrid Design: Conventional solenoids and Signal DataCoil™ devices can operate within the same control system, allowing gradual upgrades rather than complete field replacement.
- Remote Expansion: RelayCubes™ can be positioned along the two-wire network close to groups of existing valves, potentially reducing long multi-core cable runs back to the controller.
- Scalable Capacity: Each module adds 24 outputs, with up to 48 conventional outputs available on SDS-50 systems and up to 96 on SDS-100 systems.
- Fast Troubleshooting: Power, communications, valve activity, and protection indicators provide clear visual feedback for contractors and maintenance personnel.
- Field Protection: Resettable short-circuit protection helps isolate electrical problems and protects connected valve wiring from overload conditions.
- Lower Upgrade Complexity: The ability to retain existing 24VAC field hardware can reduce replacement costs and simplify modernisation of established irrigation sites.
