The Grundfos SEG units are submersible pumps with a horizontal discharge port and intended for the pressurized transport of wastewater from toilets. The SEG pumps are provided with a grinder system which enables the destructible solids to be ground into small pieces. Thus, these solids can be conveyed through small diameter pipes.
The pump's outer surface is smooth to make it more difficult for dirt and other materials to adhere to the pump. The main structure of the pump is made of cast iron. The motor to the pump housing joint is held with a stainless steel clamp to avoid corrosion, providing a smooth servicing experience for the pump. The pump's power cable also contains wires for the thermal sensors located in the motor's winding. The cable termination is of a plug type. The plug type termination is fully sealed and hence protects the pump from moisture ingress through the cable in the event of cable damage and/or rough handling of the pump cable.
To operate, the pump is to be connected to a controller, along with an intrinsically safe barrier, LC-Ex4, which is provided by Grundfos A/S.
The pump is certified by VTT under the ATEX directive.
